Anonymous asked: any advice for a waitlisted student? i've been so depressed and nervous about not getting into my dream school that I wanna puke (continuing to follow this blog and seeing it on my dash might not help...)

Sorry about the delayed response, finals are my lame excuse. I am sorry to hear about your wait list to Wellesley when you have so much love for the place. It definitely frustrates me that you would come in so excited to be here when some students complain about Wellesley all the time.

I would like to say, that schools are like significant others. You can dream up your fairy tale mate, but they probably won’t come along or they might not be all that they’re cracked up to be. Like finding a partner you are going to have to as they say ‘kiss a lot of frogs’. You may not get into Wellesley but you can certainly make the most of whichever is your final decision. Take what you love about Wellesley and make it happen at the school you decide to go to. Figure out what you like about Wellesley and see which of the other schools you applied to has those features too. And while your classmates now are settling and you are getting anxious remember, you will all be leaving and going somewhere in the Fall. College acceptance isn’t a race, and you will all be starting your journeys at the same time.

Though I hope you get into Wellesley, my biggest hope for you is to be happy. Try and make wherever you go work and go in with an open heart. And if you still don’t like where you end up, work hard for a few semesters and apply to transfer. As for following this blog, like a break up with an SO, I would suggest a clean break, at least till you find another love. It may be hard to follow this now, but soon you’ll have a home and wherever that may be, you will be able to find little niches just like this one.

Fuckyeah,

Wendy
